Lawrie McKinna Podcast #88

Armchair Champions, on this edition we are joined by the CEO of the Newcastle Jets A-League Soccer team “Lawrie McKinna”. Lawrie was also a successful player in his day with Scottish Premier League team Kilmarnock and numerous teams here in Australia during the NSL era.

Lawrie was also the inaugural coach for the Central Coast Mariners and in 2005, Lawrie won the Coach of the year honours when he took the Mariners to the Grand Final, after previously winning the Pre- Season competition.

We have a lot of laughs with Lawrie as he tells a few stories from his playing and Coaching days. He’s an extremely knowledgeable guy with Soccer and has some fantastic ideas on how to spread the fan base in Australia.

“Grabbing Headlines” is back this week as the panel talk about the issues in the NRL at the moment and in it’s reserve grade levels. They also talk about the NFL draft and which teams were more impressive than others in their selections. We finish it off with a chat about “The Last Dance” that’s showing on Netflix and the whole Dennis Rodman scenario, where he was allowed to go partying for 72 hours.

The Jordan & Goose awards are handed out from the year 2015 and when you hear them, it doesn’t seem like it’s already been 5 years since they have happened.

Enjoy the podcast and as always, “Keep your balls between the lines”
